The Field Service Engineer in (Long Island, NY) is primarily responsible for technical support, repairing and servicing Mizuho OSI products (orthopedic equipment) in the field throughout the United States.

The Field Service Engineer provides highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site installation, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems, and performing preventive maintenance as required. Checks out and approves operational quality of system equipment, instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.

Serves as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects. Interprets customers' needs and clarifies if the responsibility for problem resolution falls to sales personnel, customer support representatives, or Engineers.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Troubleshoot, service, and repair surgical tables and related equipment at hospital customer site. Conduct preventive maintenance while servicing equipment and machinery.
  2. Support and promote company programs, contract sales, and initiatives as directed.
  3. Create and deliver accurate quotes based on company guidelines and procedures. Clearly complete service forms for hospital through company established systems.
  4. Operate table system to demonstrate equipment and to analyze malfunctions.
  5. Instruct and direct workers at customer sites in servicing and repairing equipment.
  6. Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.
  7. May advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product improvements.
  8. Understand, support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements.
  9. Support company goals and objectives.
  10. Understand, follow and support Mizuho OSI's internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Requires 4-6 years of related experience. Associate’s degree in electrical, mechanical applied science or military equivalent. Customer and technical service experience with an understanding of complex electrical and mechanical system repair and operation.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications.
  2. Proficiency using Syclo interface with SAP CRM.
  3. Good verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  4. Able to provide a valid driver's license and qualify for company's auto insurance policy.
  5. Ability to travel extensively about 50% and qualify for corporate credit card or cover the travel expenses and submit reimbursements in accordance with company policy.
  6. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  7. Ability to push/pull up to 150 lbs.
  8. Must live in the designated territory of responsibility.
  9. Ability to work weekends when requested.
  10. Able to participate in required training and successfully certify on all product training as needed.
  11. Associate's degree in electrical, mechanical applied science or equivalent; Technical service experience, understanding of surgery equipment or procedures experience; experience with medical instruments is a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Routine and frequent travel requires driving and sitting in a car for long periods of time. Walking or standing within the hospital or office area is routinely required; bending, kneeling and lifting may be required for the repair or diagnostics of capital equipment and for customer interface within the surgical environment.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to set up or in-service a table. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently push or move up to 150 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and far vision, color vision.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job duties are performed in a hospital setting requiring adherence to the hospitals gowning and sterility protocols, and using mechanical parts and speciality hand tools. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Some job duties are performed in a home-office environment using standard office equipment such as a computer, photocopier, and telephone. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

 

Annual Salary:  $65k  -   $95k
