Job Summary

The CNC Machine Maintenance Technician is a critical role within the Machine Shop Operation responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of both Vertical and Horizontal machining centers, as well as Lathes and other equipment within the Mizuho OSI Machine shop. Working closely with the Machine Shop Manager and the Manufacturing Engineering group, this position ensures maximum machine uptime, reliability, and safety. The role directly supports Kaizen (continuous improvement) and Six Sigma methodologies with an end goal of increasing Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and capacity while reducing operational downtime and costs.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical & Electrical Repair: Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machine tools, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic systems.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Execute structured preventative maintenance (PM) schedules for all machining centers to maximize OEE and prolong machinery life.
  • Diagnostic Troubleshooting: Analyze machine errors, alarm codes, and mechanical deviations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaboration with Engineering: Partner with the Machine Shop M.E. group to implement production methodologies, standardize equipment reliability, and minimize downtime.
  • Documentation & Records: Write and maintain comprehensive maintenance logs, PM checklists, and breakdown reports to track equipment history.
  • Parts & Inventory Management: Identify required replacement parts, maintain a clean and organized spare parts inventory, and coordinate with vendors when necessary.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all machinery adheres to safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe department appearance.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Willing to share technical knowledge, mentoring operators on proper daily machine care and assisting team members in their development.
  • Problem Solving: Act as an independent employee able to analyze complex mechanical/electrical problems and formulate effective plans to overcome technical challenges quickly with a high degree of quality.
  • Company Alignment: Understand and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission, and Values Statements, maintaining the high quality and service levels set by Mizuho OSI.
  • Quality Systems: Understand, follow, and support Mizuho OSI's internal Quality System policies and procedures, including compliance with 21 CFR Part 820 Quality System Regulations.
  • Understand Mizuho OSI’s business objectives and the relationship between the Department and those objectives; to support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements, to maintain the services and quality levels set by Mizuho OSI, and to continually enable Mizuho OSI to be a great place to work.
  • Understand, follow and support Mizuho OSI’s internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).

 

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • AA Degree/Technical Cert and 2-6 YOE or HS Diploma and 8+ YOE.
  • Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment: Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock hazards, fluids/lubricating oils, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Scheduling: Must be willing to work any scheduled shifts as appropriate and based on business needs.
  • Technical Expertise: Fluent knowledge and experience troubleshooting CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Celos, Haas and/or Mitsubishi). High proficiency in reading electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and mechanical blueprints. May be required to certify as a licensed forklift operator.
  • Math & Dimensioning: Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to verify machine alignments and geometric calibration.
  • Tools: Expert proficiency using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators) and specialized diagnostic equipment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Willingness to be trained in Six Sigma and Kaizen practices to obtain relevant certifications (White, Yellow, or Green Belt) according to Technician level.
  • Professionalism: Excellent computer skills (Windows, MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel). Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, demonstrating a professional, team-oriented personality.

Salary scale $60-$80 an hour DOE + potential annual bonus + comprehensive benefits package
