Job Summary
Position provides electrical engineering and technical support; applying broad knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices and techniques to the design and development of new equipment for hospital Operation Room as well as product changes and enhancements. Work includes prototyping, integrating, testing and trouble shooting. Solve electrical engineering problems at the component through system level. Conduct testing, utilizing existing test protocols or create new ones as needed. Generate written reports.
Contribute to the intellectual property position of the company via invention and patent application. Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and processes consistent with QSR and FDA requirements. Provide support for the resolution of product complaints and/or safety issues. Work with other engineering, manufacturing, marketing, service, quality, and regulatory staff to coordinate pilot production of new products both domestic and international.
Responsibilities:
- Produce efficient, creative technical designs, analysis, and testing of electrical components and subsystems for operating room equipment.
- Document designs, specifications, risk assessment, verification, validation, test results, and analysis in accordance with FDA design control requirements.
- Use oscilloscopes, signal generators, and/or logic analyzers for diagnostic troubleshooting of circuits, boards, power supplies, and control systems.
- Interpret technical instructions, schematic drawings, component specifications, software code, and regulatory requirements.
- Focus on design-for-manufacturability and high-quality production by using appropriate component and process selection.
- Collaborate with other engineers within the department and across the organization on electrical designs and activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems within standard regulations.
- Analyze problems and formulate plans to overcome challenges to get work done quickly with a high degree of quality. Make sound and logical decisions, choose the appropriate courses of action based on the situation, and use continual improvement problem solving skills.
- Understand Mizuho OSI’s business objectives and the relationship between the Department and those objectives; to support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements, to maintain the services and quality levels set by Mizuho OSI, and to continually enable Mizuho OSI to be a great place to work.
- Understand, follow and support Mizuho OSI’s internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).
- At more senior levels you may:
- Assign work to designers, technicians, or temporary workers as necessary.
- Develop new applications for existing controls, instruments, and systems.
- Plan, schedule, estimate cost, and coordinate internal and external resources for projects.
- Assist other engineers with technical input as necessary.
- Lead projects and provide technical leadership.
- Train and instruct other members of the department and the company as appropriate, by passing along skills and information to assist them in their development and advancement either with one-on-one or with platform training skills.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 0-8 YOE, Master’s Degree and 1+ YOE, PhD Degree and 1+ YOE
- Fluency with an electrical CAD software package, Altium (Protel) is a must have.
- Basic electrical design skills on digital, analog, and power circuits.
- Working knowledge of embedded controls with micro-processors.
- Working knowledge of motors, motor drivers and motion control.
- Knowledge of real-time control software.
- Excellent computer skills including operating Windows based personal computers. Ability to efficiently and effectively use Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of medical devices and FDA regulations preferred.
- Maintain current knowledge of competitive technologies including medical, technical, manufacturing, and materials developments as related to company products.
- Ability to clearly express oneself verbally and in writing in the English language using good grammar, vocabulary, eye contact. Ability to communicate effectively with employees and other business contacts in a courteous and professional manner. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include strong presentation, project and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer focus with a high sense of urgency. Ability to provide excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Salary range: $82,000 - $150,000 DOE + annual potential bonus + comprehensive benefits package
