POSITION OVERVIEW

The Marketing Research Analyst is responsible for doing research on market conditions to determine potential sales of Mizuho OSI products and services, and to propose business opportunities for future growth.

The Market Research Analyst supports the Marketing team with the implementation of key initiatives/projects, commercial introduction of new products and services, ongoing monitoring of existing products lines, and assessment of competitive landscape.

Here is what you will do day-to-day

  • Research market conditions in local, regional, national (U.S.) and international markets to determine potential sales of products/services.
  • Perform analyses in the areas of product preferences, sales coverage, market size, penetration, marketing practices and trends, and use this information to prepare forecasts and recommendations.
  • Conduct surveys and focused research to assist with understanding market and business decisions.
  • Keep informed about developments in the government, economic, scientific, political, and international fields as they apply to the organizations future marketing plans
  • Gather data on the competition to include pricing analysis, sales, market share, key features and benefits, and method of distribution.
  • Organize information to assist in analyzing future products and make recommendations to Product Marketing Managers for the development of new products and services.  Support and participate in business case analyses and the quarterly product portfolio road mapping process.
  • Compile and analyze statistical data on past sales/trends to forecast future trends/changes.
  • Develop and manage data for the Upstream Marketing dashboard.
  • Assemble and analyze customer feedback provided to Upstream Marketing in a central database. Support the reporting of results and findings at minimum annually.  Track and report on improvements.
  • Analyze and recommend potential M&A and Joint Venture opportunities for strategic fit with the overall corporate growth objectives to Upstream Marketing team.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.
  • Travel about 10-20% with some weekend travel within the United States and internationally.
  • Train and instruct other members of the department and the company, by passing along skills and information to assist them in their development and advancement either with one-on-one or with platform training skills.
  • Perform as an independent employee who is able to analyze problems and formulate plans to overcome challenges and to get work done quickly with a high degree of quality. Make sound and logical decisions and choose the appropriate courses of action based on the parameters of the situation at hand while incorporating continual improvement problem solving skills.
  • Continue to improve the Company and the Marketing department through personal action and by contributing ideas to support both the Department and Company’s ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Work collaboratively across all functions to support project needs. Participate in team meetings as required.  Utilize open and transparent communication to increase cross functional engagement. 
  • Understand Mizuho OSI’s business objectives and the relationship between the Marketing Operations department and those objectives; to support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements and to maintain the services and quality levels set by Mizuho OSI, and to continually enable Mizuho OSI to be a great place to work.
  • Understand, follow and support Mizuho OSI’s internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).

 

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Experience and education – as outlined below, per job level.
  • Successful analytical, business modeling, forecasting and competitive product and market analysis experience.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively express oneself through written means. To be able to prepare business letters, memorandums, and reports. In addition, have a strong working knowledge of editing and proofreading.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions.
  • Ability to create and reconcile reports, demonstrate strong analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office Suite.  Excellent computer skills including operating Windows based personal computers, various office equipment and machines, and telephone system.
  • Experience in a Quality Control environment; knowledge of ISO standards.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; exhibits a strong sense of urgency and ability to successfully meet deadlines.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to learn new concepts and apply them quickly.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
  • Excellent customer focus with a high sense of urgency. Ability to provide excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly express oneself verbally in the English language (additional languages also preferred) using good grammar, vocabulary, eye contact, and a friendly voice inflection with all employees.  Ability to communicate effectively with employees and other business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to function calmly in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Must be able to positively manage situations of a dynamic nature, modify plans, actions, and decisions in light of changing situations and circumstances while still meeting, or proposing modified, deadlines.
  • Respond sensitively to the needs and feelings of others regardless of position; ability to accept interpersonal differences, maintain rapport, and interact effectively with all levels of employees within the organization.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding, and the regular use of a time management process, which systematically structures one’s own work to provide for effective task performance and to plan and prioritize items to meet future demands.
  • Ability to travel about 10-20% with some weekend travel within the United States and internationally.
  • Ability to establish and accomplish goals independently and to function as a positive and productive team member.
