SCOPE:

The Planner executes the Master Schedule for assigned products by creating a Production Plan in support of the Material Requirements Plan (MRP) and direction of management.  The goal is to provide the right amount of material at the right time to satisfy our customers. 

 

The Planner may have capacity planning responsibilities associated with managing Work Center loads and balancing machine demands in the Machine Shop.  Approved alternate work centers/machines can be substituted for the overburdened resources.

 

The Planner may also have primary responsibility for managing master data elements associated with Production Control and / or Purchasing attributes.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Understand, support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements.
  2. Support company goals and objectives.
  3. Understand, follow and support Mizuho OSI’s internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).
  4. Plan production according to the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and Material Requirements Plan (MRP) requirements, including but not limited to work order creation, on-going maintenance, and variance reconciliation.
  5. Publish production schedules and assure adherence by working with all functional areas to ensure proper and timely material flow to meet production requirements. 
  6. Follow Manufacturing Routers provided by Manufacturing Engineering personnel to have products built per print or reworked per instructions.
  7. Communicate, track and expedite any material shortages or other problems that affect the production plan or sales order backlog.
  8. Communicate completion schedules of assigned products as required.
  9. Evaluate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and ensure proper implementation on assigned products including:
  • Establish effectivity dates that appropriately balance cost impact and customer service.
  • Initiate, monitor and ensure closure on any purge, rework, and scrap actions consistent with ECN instructions.
  • Evaluate projected costs of ECN implementations.
  • After implementation, determine total cost on ECN.
  1. Monitor and take action on past due work orders, cancel process messages, MRB balances, safety stock levels, and any other order action recommendations.
  2.  In assigned areas, utilize Lean / Demand flow skills to drive the replenishment of inventories throughout the process.  Sales or other usage may trigger replenishment builds / deliveries from our suppliers as well as our machine shop.
  3. Planning responsibilities may be in Production Assembly and/or the Machine Shop.
  4. Other duties can include the processing of Trade Show and Demo returns.

Duties are performed while sitting at a desk for long periods of time utilizing standard office equipment such as computer, photocopies and telephone. Required duties include operating a computer, reading, writing and using a telephone. Walking or standing within the office and production areas is required to follow the progress of products, attend meetings, and for the operation of office equipment.   Bending, stooping and kneeling occasionally may be required.  The employee may be required to lift up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision requirements are near vision.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job duties are performed in an office/production environment utilizing standard office equipment such as a computer, photocopier, and telephone.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

 

Within the Production area the employee may be exposed to sharp objects, small tools, hot objects, adhesives, UV light, various testing equipment, isopropyl alcohol, soldering equipment, hi-pot testers and other electrical test equipment, etc.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.  The temperature in the production area will vary dependent upon the temperature outside.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Planning experience utilizing a MRP system, SAP preferred.
  2. APICS certification a plus.
  3. Knowledge of computer applications such as EXCEL, Outlook, Word.  
  4. Ability to be accurate, detail-oriented, and to perform in high pressure situations.
  5. Must be able to effectively interact with all functional areas, at all levels; particularly Purchasing, Manufacturing, Production, Engineering, Kitting, Shipping and Customer Service.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required both verbal and written.
