Job Summary

The Project Advisor for Supply Chain position works on both tactical and strategic projects for the Supply Chain organization within the Operations division using an internal customer perspective. This role could be a Subject Matter Expert on a project team, a liaison between project teams, could lead a project team and/or contribute individually to a project. The role will typically work on projects from initiation of solution options through delivery, implementation, and follow-up to ensure successful outcomes. Incumbent must be able to coordinate cross-functional teams, lead effective meetings, and measure overall progress. Projects managed are large in scope and failure to bring projects to a successful completion both on time and in budget, may have significant negative impact to the company's ability to meet its strategic objectives, The position receives project assignment, scope, objectives, and deliverables from the Director, of Global Supply Chain.

Key measures of success for this position are an ability to develop cross-functional support and adoption for project implementation that brings optimum value to Mizuho as a whole.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct needs assessment for projects assigned.
  • Analyze and present solution options for each project assigned.
  • Identify and evaluate best in class performance measures that are critical to the projects, and or task assigned. Work with Managers, Directors, and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to incorporate these metrics into daily management activities.
  • Contribute information and analysis to organizational strategic plans.
  • Assist any assigned project team in strategic meetings and follow up with documented meeting notes.
  • Actively contribute to being part of a cohesive project team and cross functional program teams and may work independently with external sources to achieve collaboration and results.
  • Identify and resolve project management issues within the project team. Guide the Supply Chain team to plan and schedule project timelines and milestones as follows:
    • Lead brainstorming sessions and/or conversations, research, and analysis to ensure each project's challenges have potential resolutions that are discussed with all relevant parties.
    • Monitor project activities, progress, milestones, and cost in accordance with company's long-term strategy.
    • Report project status on a weekly basis to corresponding departments and communicate with management on a regular basis.
    • Secure and justify all projects including funding. Expedite and coordinate a multitude of interrelated activities, resources, and project risks within the constraints of limited resources and changing priorities.
    • Provide planning, leadership and focus to manage deliverables, scope and objective of major projects and sub-projects.
    • Coordinate activities, tasks, and assignments for various full-time and part-time project members, contract resources, and cross functional partners.
  • Present and discuss project status with various levels of the organization as needed.
  • Capable of resolving any project related issues, such as scheduling, requirements definition or urgent requests as appropriate and escalates only when necessary.
  • Aggressively pursue cost improvements through process, procedure, and methods control.
  • Understand Mizuho OSI's business objectives and the relationship between the operations, and Supply Chain and those objectives; to support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements and to maintain the services and quality levels set by Mizuho OSI.
  • Understand, follow, and support Mizuho OSI's internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in material operations, industrial management, manufacturing operations or related field with at least eight years of directly applicable experience.
  • Five years’ experience managing supply chains for multi-plant facilities. Additional preferences of experience include seven to ten years of materials management experience in the medical device industry and one to three years of large cross functional project management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of supply and manufacturing processes.
  • Effective decision-making skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Neat and professional appearance and outgoing people-oriented personality which conveys pride in working for Mizuho OSI and which is demonstrated with a ready smile and a willingness to assist others.
  • Excellent computer skills including operating Windows based personal computers, various office equipment and machines, and telephone system. Ability to efficiently and effectively use Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent customer focus with a high sense of urgency. Ability to provide excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to function calmly in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities simultaneously. To be able to positively manage situations of a dynamic nature; to be able to modify plans, actions, and decisions in light of changing situations and circumstances while still meeting, or proposing modified, deadlines.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively express oneself through written means, to properly use such technical factors as grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and correct spelling. To be able to prepare business letters, memorandums, and reports. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong presentation, project, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions, create and reconcile reports, demonstrate strong analytical skills, and attention to detail.

Annual Salary - $91,000 - $130,000  + MBO Bonus
