Job Summary
The Senior Director of International Sales reports to the Vice President of Sales and will play a pivotal role in leading and executing international commercial strategy, driving revenue growth, and managing both direct sales teams and distributor networks. This role focuses on orthopedics and spine products, requiring strategic leadership to penetrate new markets and strengthen existing ones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commercial Strategy: Develop long-term commercial strategy by prioritizing markets and developing penetration strategies.
- Sales Leadership: Deliver sales revenue per the quarterly plan. Develop and execute comprehensive international sales strategies to achieve revenue targets. Identify and penetrate new markets, aligning with global market trends and company goals. Develop and implement sales quotas for individuals and as a team and assess progress and performance.
- Talent Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of international sales managers and direct sales representatives. Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
- Distributor and Partner Management: Build and cultivate strong relationships with international distributors and partners. Negotiate and manage distributor agreements to ensure effective product distribution and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Sales Performance: Oversee sales forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking for international regions. Drive revenue growth by achieving and exceeding sales targets in assigned territories.
- Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with international sales regulations, including those specific to medical devices, such as FDA, CE Mark, and regional standards.
- Project Management and Execution: Develop and manage project plans to support strategic initiatives, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Monitor project progress in identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies. Lead cross-functional teams to execute strategic projects seamlessly and timely.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with marketing, product development, and customer service teams to align sales strategies with company initiatives and product launches.
- Market Representation: Represent the company at international medical conferences, trade shows, and with key opinion leaders in the orthopedics and spine fields. Travel internationally to support sales activities, build customer relationships, and attend industry events. Staying informed about industry trends and competitor activities.
- Corporate Mission: Understand Mizuho OSI’s business objectives and the relationship between the Department and those objectives; to support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements, to maintain the services and quality levels set by Mizuho OSI, and to continually enable Mizuho OSI to be a great place to work.
- Quality: Understand, follow and support Mizuho OSI’s internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in sales, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record in international sales within the medical device industry, particularly in orthopedics and spine with a track record of growing a business by an order of magnitude.
- Deep understanding of the orthopedics and spine market, including product knowledge, competitive landscape, and customer needs.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing and mentoring high-performing teams.
- Experience managing both direct sales teams and distributor networks.
- Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels. Fluency in English; additional languages, especially those relevant to target markets (e.g., Spanish, German, Mandarin), are a significant plus.
- Knowledge of international regulatory environments and reimbursement systems for medical devices.
- Travel internationally 40-50% of the time to support sales activities and build relationships with customers and partners.
- Must work in our Union City location for the first 30–45 days, including the duration of their sales training period.
- Must spend one week per quarter, at a minimum, onsite at the Union City office.

Base Salary Range: $203,000 - $265,000 + comprehensive benefits package
