Job Summary

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for directing Team Leads and Team Members and working cross-functionally to ensure the accomplishment of manufacturing objectives, with a particular focus on alignment with company policies, manufacturing/quality/safety/training/5S standards, customer satisfaction, productivity/efficiency improvement, cost reduction, teamwork and morale. The



  • Understand, support, and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements.
  • Support company goals and objectives.
  • Understand, follow, and support Mizuho OSI’s internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).
  • Plan and coordinate with management and HR, the hiring and placement of team members.
  • Manage team work hours and overtime, training records, job rotation, and absenteeism.
  • Manage and appraise team member job performance and continuous development.
  • Develop and maintain positive team member relations centered on mutual trust, dignity, respect, fairness, consistency, two-way communication and teamwork.
  • Utilize Lean manufacturing methods and techniques to standardize current/new processes and methods, reduce process variation, identify waste, and methodically eliminate waste.
  • Monitor team member adherence to standard work, parts/material Kanban requirements, and quality requirements.  Take corrective action as needed.
  • Be proactive in predicting problems and finding innovative solutions to correct.
  • Develop, maintain, monitor, and update department and KPI board and graphs, daily, and initiate continuous improvement activities.
  • Be a problem solver.  Lead the implementation of team members’ ideas and kaizen suggestions and management directed initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and security regulations, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, 5S housekeeping and company safety/ergonomic policies and procedures.
  • Ensure continuous development of team members through performance evaluation, development of training plans, feedback and coaching.
  • Collect, record, and analyze information while maintaining documentation regarding the activities in the assigned area as defined by company policy, procedure, or practice.
  • Through daily start of shift and communication meetings, keep team members informed on issues relevant to them and encourage two-way communication.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience and 2 years supervisory experience
  • Ability to communicate verbally and write emails/reports/presentations in English
  • Ability to read and understand Assembly drawings and blueprints
  • Regular use of a time management process for structuring their work schedule and planning for future demands.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Desired Characteristics & Attributes:

  • Knowledge and working experience in Lean manufacturing environment
  • As a Supervisor assigned to the Soft Good area, experience with sewing and die cutting of foam, fabrics, and other soft goods materials
  • As a Supervisor assigned to the Assembly area, experience working directly in the assembly of electromechanical capital equipment
  • Able to work as a team player

The duties of this job require the employee to sit and/or stand and to use hands/fingers to manipulate small and large product for long periods of time. The employee is required to walk, use feet to operate equipment and occasionally lift up to 45 pounds during the normal course of work. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Within the Production Floor the employee may be exposed to sharp objects, small tools, hot objects, adhesives, UV light, various testing equipment, isopropyl alcohol, soldering equipment, hi-pot testers and other electrical test equipment, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
