Job Summary
The Manager, Systems Engineering, is the functional manager for a team of engineers performing the following functions: Requirements Analysis, Traceability, Functional Decomposition, System Design, System Integration Testing and Risk Analysis. Responsibilities include new-product development as well as existing product sustaining and enhancement engineering activities. Functional management duties include task assignments, performance reviews, coaching, and skills improvement. Technical duties include system architecture, planning and coordination of activities across multiple functions, adherence to development policies and procedures, and providing technical drive and direction.
Manager, Systems Engineering is the advanced level.
Senior Manager, Systems Engineering is the senior level.
Responsibilities:
- With minimal direction, set and work toward intermediate/long range milestones, managing human and material resources and technical progress toward these milestones.
- Coordinate all product lifecycle activities including requirements engineering, system architecture creation, design analysis, test, scheduling for new product release, sustaining, and product enhancements.
- Exercise responsibility for the work production and quality of technical staff assigned to various projects. Ensure all designs and design documentation comply with accepted engineering principles, company procedures, and external regulations and standards.
- Develop staff in their respective areas of technical expertise and build broader capability through training or additional hiring.
- Set intermediate and annual goals for the work group, both project related as well as development.
- Act as a technical expert and leader in both disciplines of requirements analysis and systems engineering and test. Exercise a high degree of independent judgment.
- Manage and evaluate performance and assist in career development planning for employees.
- Understand Mizuho OSI’s business objectives and the relationship between the Department and those objectives; to support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements, to maintain the services and quality levels set by Mizuho OSI, and to continually enable Mizuho OSI to be a great place to work.
- Understand, follow and support Mizuho OSI’s internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).
Qualifications & Requirements:
Manager:
- BS or MS Engineering or Physics; five to eight years design experience with emphasis on product design; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four years’ experience in a supervisory capacity
Senior Manager:
- BS or MS Engineering or Physics; seven to ten years of design experience with emphasis on product design or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 years’ experience in a management capacity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to lead, motivate and develop employees.
- Strong written, verbal communication & presentation skills.
- Comprehensive and demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles necessary to design complex, software controlled electro-mechanical products.
- Ability to manage, schedule, and coordinate internal and external software and electrical development resources; and continuously improve systems development processes.
- Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering. Familiarity with requirements documentation and traceability tools and structured system design techniques and systems is desired.
- Demonstrated expertise and familiarity with standard engineering tools, including review of designs in (e.g.) SolidWorks, Altium, Matlab, etc.
- Demonstrated experience translating market and marketing requirements into technical requirements and lower-level specifications with corresponding verification and validation testing.
- Ability to generate and review design documentation including specifications, risk assessments, electrical and software verification and validation test suites and results, and other analyses in accordance with FDA ISO software design control requirements
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills are highly desirable.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple functions.

Salary Range: $156,000 - $208,000 DOE + potential annual bonus + comprehensive benefits package
