The Tool Room Attendant works in the machine shop under direct supervision to perform a variety of routine and standardized duties that follow specified policies and procedures. Supports the Machine shop by keeping accurate inventory of parts, tools, machine attachments, accessories and other essential components needed for the machine shop.

Here is what you will do day-to-day


  • Maintain locations of material in storage and records of items issued such as hand tools, cutting tools, machine attachments and accessories, hand-held power tools, abrasives, lubricants, wiping rags and solvents in storage.
  • Arrange for tools to be maintained/calibrated in conjunction with Buyer and RA/QA group requirements.
  • Maintain jigs and fixtures.
  • Requisition new tools, supplies and equipment to maintain tool room inventory. Work with outside vendors to maintain a constant and consistent inventory.
  • Set cutting tools for CNC operations using tool-setting machines.
  • Maintain machine coolant. Coolant levels, chemistry, and cleanliness.
  • Maintain machine oil levels.
  • Support shop projects. (Assembling, fabricating, cleaning, etc.)
  • Organize and pre-setup of machine tools and fixtures to shorten setup times.
  • Understand, follow, and support Mizuho OSI’s internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).






What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Experience and education – as outlined below, per job level.
  • Knowledge of machine shop tools and equipment.
  • Some mechanical skill.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work any shifts schedule as applicable and based on business needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to measure accurately in metric or U.S. standards.
  • Computer skills, ability to use Microsoft excel and word.


What you need to be prepared for:

The duties of this job require the employee to stand and to use hands to manipulate very small objects and hand tools for long periods of time. The employee is required to walk and occasionally to lift up to 50 pounds during the normal course of work. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Within the Machine Shop and/or Production Floor the employee may be exposed to sharp objects, small tools, hot objects, adhesives, various testing equipment, isopropyl alcohol, soldering equipment, hi-pot testers and other electrical test equipment, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
