Job Summary
The Utility Technician position is a one stop shop for all building maintenance, construction, and janitorial needs. This role fulfills duties typical of a facilities handyman involving all aspects of building repair, maintenance, general upkeep, and janitorial services. This individual may also support Maintenance technicians for equipment preventive maintenance and repairs.
Responsibilities:
- Independently performs typical facilities handyman responsibilities, including ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems such as toilet repair, light bulbs replacement, whiteboard installations, ceiling tile replacement, patching and painting.
- Assist with maintaining equipment and tools, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, building management systems, manufacturing equipment, and building repairs.
- Perform facility inspections and report on conditions affecting operations.
- Respond to onsite emergency(s) as part of the emergency responder during assigned shift.
- Review and understand equipment and method of operations, BMS system, fire and life safety, and other systems.
- Comply with all safety procedures and reequipments in effect onsite.
- Support after-hours building needs and activities as required.
- Perform janitorial duties.
- Perform landscaping duties (cutting weeds/grass, pressure washing), operating cardboard bailer and operating forklifts.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Understand, follow and support Mizuho OSI’s internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).
Qualifications & Requirements:
- This position requires flexible working hours to support shiftwork, with shifts starting as early as 05:30AM and ending at 12:00AM (Midnight), plus the operational (work) days will be Monday through Saturday. The starting times and actual shifts and assignments may vary based on the needs of the company.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED. Post-secondary education programs in related fields, such as electrical, mechanical, building construction, HVAC, CNC Machining and plumbing highly preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience as a facilities handyman or janitor preferred.
- Must have a valid CA driver’s license and over the age of 18 years (eighteen) to comply with Cal OSHA PIT Operator requirements.
- Must be able to become and maintain forklift certification within 60 days of employment by a state approved 3rd party training vendor.
- Must have or obtain within 90-days of hiring:
1. OSHA-10 General Industry certificate
2. First AID with CPR and AED certificate, and maintain these throughout the time of employment with Mizuho OSI Facilities Dept.
- Must have ability to independently read and follow original owner manual (OEM) and blueprints to perform Preventive Maintenance (PM).
- Must be able to use electrical, air (pneumatic), hydraulic and battery powered hand tools jacks, computers, and test equipment as required.
- Must be able to use Microsoft products such as Outlook email, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, with electronic mobile devices such as tablets and mobile phones.
- Ability to make sound and independent judgement quickly during emergencies.
- Establish positive team relationships with all internal partners and outside vendors for supplies and building maintenance.
- Fluent in English language with effective and clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to Open, Create, and Close all work requests and work orders with required notation.
- Ability to work independently and balance between competing priorities throughout the day.
- Participate in Facility programs with an expectation to continue learning and grow as a professional and obtain required certificates for the job functions.
- While working alone, capability of Heavy lifting of up to 70-pounds, and moving, computers and related equipment, heavy equipment, office furniture moves, relocation or assembly while reading blueprints and instructions.
- Work outside on building roof, hot and cold weather, working on heights over 10 feet from ground using ladders or lift equipment.

- 5:30AM to 2:00PM
- 7AM to 3:30PM
- 10AM to 6:30PM
- 3PM to 11:30PM
Hourly rate: $27.88 per hour plus potential annual bonus. Includes comprehensive Benefits package.
